The start of the week and Lacy's a geek.

So we finally made it to Astoria and to Clementine's. This is Clementines'. It was the bed and breakfast we stayed at. Shane and I studied all of the b&b's on the Internet and my gut instinct kept coming back to Clementines. We have never stayed in a b&b before and were more than a little nervous! But we had our own bathroom. ( the only way to do a b&b, by the way) The grounds around the house were gorgeous with roses big with lilac sized Fuchsia bushes. (in Utah most of us are lucky to baby a hanging fuchsia.) Anyways, like I said I was really drawn to this place and when we walked in and read this sign I had goosebumps!

The Mormon Church! Isn't that crazy? and cool? Yeah, I had goosebumps! We settled our bags and found a cute little seafood restaurant on the docs. We were so close to the Astoria bridge that we could see the boats coming in. They were beautiful all lit up!

This boat is not on fire. I just left my shutter open.
My night photography skills do not do these ships justice.
Monday morning-
" Well, Hello Mr. Slug." Which is exactly what I said to this guy after Shane found him on our morning jaunt around the B&B. and then I wondered if I should have said Miss Slug. After all, slugs have feelings too.
I gave the little guy a pat on the back and Elaine said, "Oh Lacy, you're so sweet." But I know she was thinking I had lost a few marbles. Looking at how big this slug was I just may have! lol (This is a farely true to life picture of the fellow. Which I have now named Doug the Slug Bug)
If you think petting the little guy was bad and you think I didn't pick him up you would be totally wrong. (No Lacy, Stop, You didn't pick him up, did you?) Yes, I did.
I picked him up and set him down where he wouldn't get stepped on, patted his back a few times, and told him a loving good bye.
We were on a mission to find lighthouses. Which meant we had to cross the Astoria bridge which is in the picture above. It goes over the point of the Columbia river that opens into Ocean. It is about 4point something miles long. One side is Oregon and the other is Washington.
Elaine said I'm just letting you guys know that I'm going to hide on the floor as we go across.
I'm scared of heights too so I was seconding her comment.
I'm happy to announce, though, that neither of us laid on the floor as we went across and it really wasn't bad at all.
I've never seen so many churches in my life. Darling, Charming ones too! But, we never saw a Mormon church, except for Clementines.
All of the houses in Oregon and Washington had wood siding like this little church. They painted the houses every color from pink and purple to blue and orange. I loved it! It felt like we were going back in time! All of the houses were ornate too! Love, Loved it!

Have I mentioned yet that we saw a lot of green? I haven't? Oh well I'll tell you more about it in my next post. But aren't the roads cool and so mysterious. I'm a very imaginative person so I totally was thinking this is the land of fairies and much larger, beautiful Ed... creatures.
After a whole lot of winding back and forth we finally found the lighthouses.

Aren't Paul and Elaine cute?
And the lighthouse was awesome! We climbed to the top of the one. I think there was 69 steps. I have to say, I'm not sure I would have made it last year. I remember, huffing and puffing everywhere we went. But this year, I felt like a spring chick! Now, If I could make myself get back on the tread mill so I don't gain the wait back.Do you think If I jump a certain someone will save me?
This is the other lighthouse. They don't let you go inside of this one, so we decided to just take a picture instead of hiking the mile to get to it.
I have so many pictures that it's been hard to choose.
Discloser- I know that there may be a few of you worrying about Shane's feelings concerning the whole Edward thing. First of all, Just know. He thinks I'm hilarious. (love is very blind!)
I said, "Hunny, don't let the whole Edward thing bother you."
He said, " It doesn't."
I said, "Good, because your just like him, you know. Except the whole immortal thing no are gold or red eyes, and you don't have pointy vampire teeth."
He said, " or dooo I?"
Then I giggled like a school girl...cuz I'm a geek.
I hope you can handle my crazy imagination.
Love, Lacy

Oh Lacy! I am so jealous I love the Coast. You look like you had lots of fun. You should have talked Shane into going to Forks while you were there. But you were probable waiting to go with me, that was sweet.

We would have totally gone to forks if it wouldn't have been a four hour drive. Maybe next year.
