From Blades to Boats

So as many of you know we were lucky enough to get to go to Oregon last week. Shane and I have started a yearly thing of going to the Oregon Blade West Show and then making a Vaca out of it and going to the coast for a few days.

So here we are waiting for the show to begin and anticipating and hoping for good comments on Shane's knives. Please, for heavens sakes, let, at least, one knife sell during our three day show.

Shane entered a few knives into a few different judging categories. For Shane, this is nerve racking because he never thinks his knives are good enough. But of coarse, they're gorgeous and definitely good enough.

The proof is in the trophy setting on our mantle right now! Yes, He did win. He won Best New Knife Maker!

This is important in the knife business because it basically means he's the next "up and coming, better buy a knife while you can afford it" maker. His picture will be put in Blade Mag along with a picture of the beautiful knife. Great free publicity!

Which, for the record, the knife sold that night. (You can see a picture of the knife on Shane's knife blog. The link is on the side bar.) He had a great show, selling 6 knives and a custom order!
Forgive my bragging. But I'm still amazed at him. Who knew my blue eyed boy would become a knife maker and have such talent to boot?!?

So Sunday night we packed our bags and went to the airport and rented a cute little Subaru car and head for the "real" vaca - Astoria, Oregon. We saw A LOT of green, and green leaves and green trees, and green moss. Did I mention that we saw A LOT of green?
In order to get to Astoria, Oregon we had to cross over into Washington for a few miles.
(I'm almost absolutely positive, kind of maybe, that I saw Edward Cullen five or two times and that he wanted to still me from the car and confess his undying love for me.) Did I say that out loud?
Aaaaaawkward... Green did I mention that we saw A LOT of green?

We went over a few bridges that crossed the Columbia river and started to see our first glimpses of boats and Ocean life. Huge boats! I've never seen boats so big!
So tune in tomorrow...Our Oregon Saga will continue and it gets A Lot more interesting... (more Edward, or maybe Jakob)
Green Lacy... We were talking about green, no wait, it was boats... Oh, I give up... see ya tommorow.
Love, Lacy
