OUR BELOVED SEQUENCE STOCKINGS!

The tradition of the sequence stockings started about 37 years ago. My grandma Gardiner began making them for all of her grandchildren. Over the years she had 20 grandchildren. Then as her grandchildren grew she started making them for the spouses of the grandchildren. Then for her immediate children and there spouses. Now she makes them for her great grandchildren. My mom has started to make some for her posterity to lighten my grandma's load a smidgen. Someday I will have to continue the tradition!
This is my original stocking from 27 Christmases ago. I keep it safe and it has served me well.

My grandma made this one for Shane. Every stitch is hand sewn. I can't imagine how many hours it would take to make one stocking! Or better yet, how many days! The thing is the stockings seem to get even more detail, as they make them, over the years!

My mom made this stocking for Questen.

My mom made this one for Violet.

My mom made this one for Lillian. These pictures don't do these stockings justice. There are way more sequence then you can see. Just look at the rooster's tail. It is full of sequence. Imagine sewing each one on!
I bet my grandma is nearing a hundred stockings if she hasn't past it!
My mom currently has made 7 or so for her grandchildren.
What a legacy they are making!
