A little bit of Magic...

We had Questen's party on his birthday, Feb 12. A week before Questen came running in and said, "Mom I want a Wizard party and I want to play pin the tail on the centurian"
Ummm, Okay...

Being the "pink" person that I am, I didn't have a red tablecloth so I took a striped sheet and put it on the table. A black cat magic book, a broom, Hydra (multi headed dragon), and potion bottles set the mood across the table.
We started the games by playing gossip. I whispered things in one of the kids ears like "Hocus Pocus all a ma zocas" then they passed it to the next person and so on. We all laughed at the end when it came out more like "Hi I'm a dorkas."
Even little button thought this was funny. The little one's like Teiken and Lilli were hilarious.
We also played Don't eat Pete. One child leaves the room and from a dish full of candy the rest of us decide which on of the candy is Pete. The child comes back in the room and starts eating if he/she picks up Pete we all yell don't eat Pete and the child has to stop right there. So sometimes a child will get one candy and sometime they get a lot! (Of course, I told them that Pete had been turned into candy by a little bit of magic.)
Thanks Rachelle for this game idea. It was a hit.

We gathered at the table were the kids patiently waited for us to light the cake. At least, the wizard Breken was smiling.

I had the "so great" idea that I was going to make a Wizard hat cake. I don't know what I was thinking! Really, between the cake falling to pieces as I'm frosting and me spilling a pot of chicken noodle soup all over the fridge and down myself, well, let's just say I must have had a little bit of magic for it to even turn out this good!
It was very stress full. Just use your imagination please. lol.

At least, the kids have a good imagination. They all knew that it was a Wizard hat and seem very excited about it, so I guess, that's all that matters.

Questen made his wish.

and blew...
Oopse, blew some more.
We dished out the cake (It was at least very moist and good.) We handed out magic wands (glow sticks) to everyone. My mom helped crack them and light up. Thanks for helping mom.

I pored Minotaur blood (mango Shasta) But I didn't let them drink til I added the special potion.

Lava Rocks.
The potion (pop rocks) was dropped into the cup giving a great crackling splashing affect. I made each kids say a spell and tap their cup.
The kids thought it was great.

Heavy heavy hang over...
thigh poor head...

Well, I survived and It done.
Happy Birthday to my sweet boy. We love you!
Shane and I both have said many times... That even though Questen had a birthday he's staying Seven because Eight is just to big for a mom and dad to handle!
Maybe with a little bit of Magic we'll be able to.

What an awesome party! Seriously Lace, you are one rockin mom! I thought the cake was supposed to be that way when I saw it... it looked awesome, reminded me of the bent wizard hat on Harry Potter.
